Scope and Contents This collection contains documentation relating to two cemeteries in Southborough: the Old Burying Ground on Saint Marks Street, and Southborough Rural Cemetery on Cordaville Road. The Old Burying Ground is the town’s oldest cemetery and was utilized from the town’s inception in 1727 through 1843 when it became too crowded to accommodate further burials. Cemetery deeds in this volume are organized alphabetically by the plot owner's surname. Contrary to the volume’s names, no plans or diagrams of the plots are included. Plot deeds provide the date of purchase, name of the lot purchaser and their home address, the lot and range numbers of the purchased plot, and amount paid for the plot in addition to perpetual care.
