Veteran Grave Cards (Outdated Clerk's Copy), c. 1942
Scope and Contents
This series includes several hundred grave registration cards for veterans buried in Southborough who served in the military anytime from the French-Indian War through to the present. Included are the veteran’s name, service details, enlistment dates, burial location, and a description of their headstone if the grave is marked.
Note: The Veteran's Grave Card index is a secondary source which was created by the Works Progress Administration at date considerably later than the events described, and it is known to include numerous typographical mistakes and factual errors. In several instances, people with the same first and last names have been confused, such as in the case of the infant son of William Williams who died in 1804 and is erroneously listed as his grandfather William Williams, a Revolutionary War soldier from Southborough.
